Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed on Thursday that Chinese Premier Li Qiang will visit Indonesia and meet President Prabowo Subianto later this month.
While not revealing the exact date of the visit, the minister affirmed that Li's visit will take place before French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Jakarta, scheduled for May 27-29, 2025.
"President Macron plans to visit Indonesia after the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Before him, we are expected to receive the Chinese Premier's visit," Sugiono stated on the sidelines of his agenda at the Merdeka Palace here.
He remarked that during the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on May 26-27, the Southeast Asian organization will hold its inaugural summit with China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi earlier mentioned the Chinese Premier's planned visit to Indonesia on April 22. Wang said China sought to advance relations with Indonesia while participating in the ASEAN Summit.
"Hence, if possible, Premier Li Qiang will visit Indonesia," according to Wang, who said that the visit may take place in the end of May 2025.

Macron's visit
Regarding the French president's upcoming visit, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya received French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, on Tuesday (May 13) to discuss the planned bilateral meeting.
"President Prabowo and President Macron last met on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil last November," the cabinet secretary remarked.
During Macron's state visit, President Prabowo is expected to take his French counterpart to the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) last Friday (May 9), TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto had inspected preparations for the state visit at the Military Academy, which included intensive French language sessions for military officers.
